Gudy van Poppel is a Dutch blacksmith cutler, well known for decades now in Europe and the United States for his work.
He learned to forge his own damask steel in the mid-90s. Since 1997 he has participated in trade fairs and exhibitions with his handmade knives.
He began by making fixed blades and, later, swords. Gaining fame in the knife maker community, the demand for folding knives in its particular style also began to increase. As a result, since his beginnings, he has built a large repertoire of blades.
What most of them have in common is that they are mostly made from damascus steel forged by Gudy. He also makes all of the parts for his knives himself, including screws, washers and timascus.
Its blades are often accompanied by natural materials such as mammoth ivory, walrus ivory, exotic woods, and bones of all kinds. Thus, Gudy is able to make modern knives with a touch of classicism, or very design. The fit and finish of its blades meet the highest standards.
It is renowned for its quality of work, and has a growing number of clients, both collectors and users, in Europe and the United States.
